One Day Whisky Tours Highlights:
Tullibardine - Tasting
On the A9 and now also having a cooperage included this is a great distillery to visit.
Tullibardine Distillery: A Gateway to Highland Whisky Excellence
Located at the edge of the Scottish Highlands, Tullibardine Distillery offers a rich blend of tradition and innovation. Known for its smooth, approachable single malts, Tullibardine crafts whisky using pure spring water from the nearby Ochil Hills—an ingredient that’s been prized since medieval times.
Visitors can enjoy guided tours, cask tastings, and insights into the distillery’s maturation process, all within a welcoming, modern setting. Whether you're a seasoned whisky lover or a curious newcomer, Tullibardine provides a memorable stop on any Highland whisky journey.
Glengoyne - Tour and Tasting
Arguably one of the most scenic distilleries and also produce one of my favourite non-peaty whiskies, the Teapot.
Glengoyne Distillery: Where Highland Spirit Meets Lowland Maturity
Nestled at the foot of the Campsie Hills, just 14 miles north of Glasgow, Glengoyne Distillery is often hailed as Scotland’s most beautiful distillery. Operating since 1833, Glengoyne is unique in producing Highland single malt whisky that matures across the road in the Lowlands—a rare geographical distinction that adds depth to its character.
Glengoyne is renowned for its slow distillation process, using the slowest stills in Scotland to craft a complex, fruity spirit. Visitors can enjoy immersive tours, tastings, and even create their own single malt in the Sample Room—a hands-on experience unlike any other in Scotland.
Whether you're drawn by the scenic glen, the waterfall backdrop, or the award-winning whisky, Glengoyne offers a truly unhurried and elegant escape into Scotland’s whisky heritage.
Deanston - Lunch and Tasting
One of our favourite and often frequented distilleries. A Highland Whisky Distillery with a variety of expressions and a great cafe to boot for some venison burgers.
Deanston Distillery: From Cotton Mill to Highland Malt Marvel
Set on the banks of the River Teith near Doune, Deanston Distillery is a hidden gem in the Highland whisky region. Originally a cotton mill built in 1785, the site was transformed into a distillery in the 1960s, blending industrial history with artisanal whisky-making. Today, Deanston is celebrated for its un-chill filtered single malts, natural colour, and commitment to sustainability—including its own hydroelectric power source.
Just 45 minutes from Glasgow and Edinburgh, Deanston offers immersive distillery tours, tastings of its smooth, honeyed whiskies, and a charming café known as the Coffee Bothy. It’s a must-visit for those seeking a whisky experience steeped in character and craftsmanship.
Auchentoshan - Tasting
A distillery in Clydebank? Yes and the best lowland distillery in my opinion. Their Distillery Cask whiskies are a bloom of flavour and will change your mind about Lowland whiskies. Triple distilled genius.
Auchentoshan Distillery: Triple Distilled Elegance from the Lowlands
Just outside Glasgow, nestled at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills, Auchentoshan Distillery stands as a beacon of Lowland whisky craftsmanship. Founded in 1823, it’s one of the few Scottish distilleries to practice triple distillation, resulting in a remarkably smooth and delicate single malt—often dubbed “the breakfast whisky” for its light, approachable character.
Auchentoshan’s proximity to the River Clyde and its rich industrial past lend it a distinct urban charm. Visitors can enjoy guided tours, sample rare expressions like the Three Wood or American Oak Reserve, and explore the distillery’s stylish gift shop and tasting lounge.
Whether you're a whisky connoisseur or a curious newcomer, Auchentoshan offers a refined experience that blends tradition, innovation, and a touch of Glasgow spirit.
ClydeSide Distillery - Tasting
Housed in the old pump-house on the Clyde in Glasgow this distillery impressed me with their new-make spirit. This is a great last stop as they have a very well stocked whisky shop and restaurant.
Clydeside Distillery: Glasgow’s Dockside Revival in a Dram
Located on the historic Queen’s Dock in the heart of Glasgow, Clydeside Distillery is a striking fusion of past and present. Opened in 2017 after a £10.5 million restoration of the 19th-century pump house, it marks the city’s first dedicated single malt distillery in over a century. Owned by Morrison Glasgow Distillers, the site pays homage to Glasgow’s maritime and industrial legacy while producing elegant Lowland single malt whisky.
Clydeside’s signature expression, Stobcross, released in 2021, reflects the distillery’s commitment to craftsmanship and character. Visitors can explore the Dockside Story, enjoy guided tastings, and even create their own whisky in the VIP Blender’s Room2. With panoramic views over the River Clyde and a sleek, modern still house, it’s a must-visit for whisky lovers and history buffs alike.

Ardgowan Distillery: Inverclyde’s Cathedral of Whisky
Set on the historic Ardgowan Estate near Inverkip, Ardgowan Distillery is Scotland’s newest Lowland single malt producer—and the first distillery to open in Inverclyde in over a century. Officially launched in June 2025, the distillery blends bold architectural design with deep respect for tradition, featuring a Scandinavian-inspired longhouse and a striking roof made from 97% recycled aluminium.
Led by whisky entrepreneur Roland Grain and distillery manager Laura Davies, Ardgowan is committed to reviving the golden age of Scotch through long Sherry cask maturation in European oak. Its flagship Infinity Casks and Clydebuilt Collection reflect a dedication to quality and innovation.
Visitors can explore the distillery’s immersive experiences, enjoy exclusive tastings, and even secure a private cask—becoming part of Clan Ardgowan’s whisky legacy. With views over the Firth of Clyde and a story rooted in both industrial resilience and modern sustainability, Ardgowan is a must-visit for whisky lovers and heritage enthusiasts alike.
In order to fit in as many distilleries in one day as possible we will not be able to do full tours at every distillery. Most distilleries operations are very similar and one good tour will get you a good overview of how Scotch Whisky is produced.
If you wish to tour a specific distillery this can be arranged. The whisky production and variations in the distilleries can be complemented by myself.
